Hypertherm and FUJIFILM Dimatix, two Lebanon, N.H., businesses, celebrated 15 Thetford Academy and Lebanon High School students' achievements upon their successful completion of the inaugural STEM High Tech Manufacturing Internship program on Tuesday night, Jan. 15. The internship was an unequivocal success. TA athletes delivered spectacular performances at the 50th Annual Dartmouth Relays this weekend. PRs abounded, along with a number of school records, and even a state record! Grace Davis ('20) and Knute Linehan ('21) both set TA records in the triple jump. Bel Spelman( '19), Tad Darrah ('20), and Eloise Van Meter ('21) also earned spots on the school record board for their performances in the two-mile race. Meanwhile, the boys 4 x 800 relay team, consisting of Bel Spelman, Eli Kaliski ('19), Owen Deffner ('19) and Tad Darrah, set the Vermont D-II state record, finishing in 8:54.85, a full six seconds...


The Thetford Outdoor Program is hosting a campout for 7th to 9th graders at Thetford Academy's yurt in the Thetford Hill State Park on Friday, Jan. 25, to Saturday, Jan, 26. The group will meet after school (at 3 p.m.) on Friday in Scott Ellis’s classroom and then hike up to the yurt for the night. The group will return to campus for pickup at 10 a.m. on Saturday. MIT Spark is a one-weekend program designed to give 7th and 8th grade students the opportunity to explore a wide range of subjects. MIT students and community members teach a variety of classes, from urban orienteering to mathematics to Chinese brush painting and everything in between! Check out the 2018 course catalog for an idea of what this year's classes will look like. This year's Spark program is scheduled for March 16 and 17 on the MIT campus. Thetford Academy’s 22nd annual festival of ten-minute plays, written and performed by TA students, will take place Thursday and Friday, January 17 and 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Martha Jane Rich Theater at Thetford Academy. As usual, the plays contain a wide variety of topics and themes, this year ranging from complicated friendships, to teen depression, to magic elixirs.
