Cross Country At the Panthers' home meet on Sept. 11, the boys team won handily with a score of 28. Owen Deffner placed 2nd, Jacob Slaughter 3rd, Eamon Deffner 4th, and Bel Spelman came in 6th. Second place went to Brattleboro with a score of 47. On Sunday, Sept. 23, Thetford Academy international students and their host families gathered at the Bugg residence to meet, mingle, and catch up over BBQ and lawn games. Now in year 8, TA's International Student Program enrolls up to 10 students annually from around the globe. On Tuesday, an all-school announcement interrupted TA's lunch period--a surprise for all students was "happening now" on the green. Students would not be disappointed, announcer (Alden Nichols '19) promised. And if they appreciated art and cookies, they were not.  Alden and his classmates William Bugg '19, Owen Deffner '19, and William Bosco '19 had spent part of their summer constructing a TA Trojan Horse. Soccer Our soccer teams kicked off their season with strong efforts in their opening games against Rivendell at home on Sept. 4 and Sept. 5. The varsity girls had a 7-1 win, highlighted by three goals by Lily MacVeagh, while the JV girls tied 2-2. The varsity boys came away with a 2-1 win, including a game winning goal by Carter Blain.
