Thetford After School Program (TASP) is looking for an After School Teacher to supervise K-6 students until 5:30pm weekdays indoor/outdoor games, projects, and activities. On Sunday March 25, Thetford Academy International Student Program participants, family, and friends gathered to learn about Greek food and culture in celebration of Greek Independence Day. We started the afternoon by getting a serious upper body workout - rolling out phyllo dough into paper thin sheets that would provide the foundation for spanakopita (spinach pie) and kimatopita (meat pie). Seniors Anna Pavlidou and Artemis Tangalidou (with remote advice from Anna’s parents in Greece), showed us all how to roll out and layer the dough and shape the pies. Thetford Academy’s One Act Play students are advancing to the State Festival in Springfield, and to help them prepare, there will be another community performance of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare [abridged] on Saturday, March 31, at 7 p.m. in the Martha Jane Rich Theater. The cast will hold a discussion with the audience following the show to solicit feedback as they continue to polish their work.  Donations gratefully accepted at the door to support their trip to the State Festival in Springfield on April 6 and 7. ...


All of the students in the Thetford Outdoor Program love maple syrup, with the exception of one newcomer to Vermont. So educator Scott Ellis made sure an exploration of all things maple would be part of the curriculum. "If students are interested in something, harness that," said Ellis, 38. "That's what this maple project is all about. They're excited about it 'cause they like maple syrup, but there's lots of lessons to learn along the way." Full article...
