Dear TA Families, I'm sending my final weekly email of the year. Thanks for reading along with me and staying connected to school happenings these past 10 months! Congratulations to the Class of 2024!  We had three special send-off events for the seniors last week: Baccalaureate with families on Sunday evening, Class Day on Friday morning with students and staff, and Graduation that night with the whole community. We risked the weather and enjoyed an outdoor ceremony with the full beauty of a Thetford Hill sunset! The student speeches, songs, poems, and performances at both baccalaureate and graduation were an inspiration. Thank you to our...

On Friday, June 14, Thetford Academy celebrated its 205th commencement ceremony honoring the graduating Class of 2024. After a long week of dismal weather forecasts for the event, the predicted rain suddenly disappeared from the forecast, replaced by a perfect evening for an outdoor celebration. With the mountains providing an unbeatable backdrop, the Class of 2024 took the stage. Graduation at TA is student-led, featuring speeches, poems, and musical performances from members of the class. This year, the ceremony opened with a welcome from Addison Cadwell, who thanked the audience - the teachers, parents, guardians, grandparents, and friends - who...

As the year draws to a close, Thetford Academy's teachers continue to design rich learning experiences for students. Culminating projects are designed to bring together the ideas, information, and skills students have learned over the course of the semester and put that learning into practice. Students in Joe Deffner’s Civil Rights Literature class...

Dear TA Families, The end of the school year is a big balancing act between celebration and rigor, and sometimes the silly and the serious. We had our fair share of silly today, as we arrived at school this morning and found the quad crowded with tents and the interior of the white building blanketed in sticky notes. The seniors were busy with pranks over the past 24 hours! We will shift to serious with the baccalaureate ceremony for the Class of 2024 on Sunday evening - a time for the almost-graduates and their families to come together to reflect on their high...
