Counseling Office Hosts College Info Night for Seniors

On Tuesday, September 19, Thetford Academy’s Counseling Office hosted a virtual college information session for current seniors and their families. The one-hour workshop, led by director of counseling Mark Pichette, provided an overview of the college application process and offered families tips and resources to help along the way. Some of the topics covered in the event were:

  • An overview of the application process
  • Responsibilities of the student/parent/counselor
  • How schools evaluate applications
  • Different types of deadlines
  • Standardized tests this year
  • How you demonstrate interest to schools
  • Financial aid basics
  • Types of scholarships
  • GAP years and deferring enrollment
