TA News

On June 2, a handful of TA faculty and administrators came together swiftly to share their reflections and responses to national outrage over the killing of George Floyd - and the broader topics of racial justice, racism, and civil disobedience, to name a few. Their recorded message was shared with the TA community - students, parents, and staff - via email on June 2, along with a statement from Head of School Carrie Brennan and TA Board President Gio Bosco. ...

This week, English 10: Identity & Voice students presented the final projects of the semester: “The Anthology” for peers, family, friends and faculty via livestream (Zoom). 2020 necessitated a transformation of the Anthology, now considered a rite of passage for TA students, into the interactive digital realm, opening new opportunities for expression through visual design and multimedia.  Throughout the semester, students collected excerpts of both original and published literature of importance to them, citing all sources and exhibiting their own artistic touch.  The Anthology project introduces students to writing as expression and encourages them to find—and share— their own voice, now also...

Originally posted on May 20; reposted on June 4: The final week of our school year will have some unique elements, as we add more structure to the remote learning schedule to better accommodate for final class meetings, exams, and project presentations. Like a typical TA final exam week in years past, we have devoted two days for extended time; this year, Tuesday is reserved for A & C block classes and Thursday is reserved for B & D block classes. Panthers, we have approached the final countdown. After a spring semester we never could have imagined, we're nearing the end of the 2019-2020 school year. This summer is going to look different than the summers of years past, and we will all need to find ways to have fun, be social, and get our chill on with whatever protocols for social...

Listen up, Seniors, I just want to say thanks! Thanks for being who you are and for the person you'll become. For those of you whom I have known since kindergarten and before, to some like Lily who joined the class this year, hello and I salute you! It's fairly obvious you'll never forget this year, and I hope you never forget each other. This year, like all the years, is a mix of what was and what might have been. So take with you what you made of it. The glass, as my dad always said, is either half full or...

During this challenging spring, as our nation deals with a global pandemic, we are also now reeling from recent acts of intolerance and racism, most notably the horrific death of George Floyd in Minneapolis at the hands of a uniformed police officer. Protestors crying out against racial injustice are rallying in small and large cities around the country, including in Vermont and New Hampshire. Although at times some of us might feel removed from the violence and tension living in a more rural area like ours, it is impossible to ignore the senseless killings of Black Americans and reports of harassment...
