On June 12, and June 13, Thetford Academy will celebrate the graduating class of 2020 with both virtual and in-person commencement events. TA has modified its end-of-year ceremonies to prioritize the health and safety of our students and families, while striving to stay true to the spirit of the school’s traditions and to joyously celebrate the senior class.  Graduation events on Friday, June 12 will include a virtual ceremony at 5:30 p.m. featuring student commencement speeches and performances, available for public viewing on Facebook and YouTube. I won’t say too much here--you have most likely heard so many words of wisdom and encouragement from family, friends, and your teachers by now. Dear Seniors, “When life gives you lemons,  make lemonade.”  “Every cloud has a silver lining.”  Many people gravitate to these mundane and clichéd sayings. I find myself repeating them to friends and family during difficult times or unexpected hardships. They are predictable, ordinary, almost habitual.  Perhaps the ordinary is the crux of their charm.  Difficult times throw people off balance. Familiarity offers stability. Thinking about myself as a high school senior sent me to my yearbook to review the past in a way I hadn’t in quite a long time.  Peering out of the pages were young women all wearing the same style sweater and necklace and young men wearing the same style jacket and tie.  All the same!  The girls’ appearances, many with long hair parted in the middle or side or short hair framing their faces with a little flip at the bottom, indicate our late 70’s hairstyles.  The boys—the majority of their hair is long in the front combed over...


Vermont D-3 State Championship in Windsor, June 2019 Tribute to our Track & Field Seniors Grace Davis  Grace graduates as the most decorated female field athlete in Thetford Academy history. She is the outdoor school record holder in the 100m hurdles, long jump, triple jump, high jump, and decathlon. She holds indoor school records in the long jump, triple jump, and high jump. She also holds the Vermont D-3 state record in the high jump at 5’5” and the Vermont D-2 indoor high jump record at 5’4”.
