The Vermont State Debate Tournament, held on Saturday, March 8 at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, saw 48 debaters grapple with the topic: Resolved: In the United States, the benefits of the use of generative artificial intelligence in education outweigh the harms. This was a timely and important topic, especially as generative AI continues to impact the landscape of education. Thetford Academy students gathered on Wednesday, February 26, at the Vermont State House to support the proposed bipartisan Phone and Social Media-Free Schools bill (H.54). The bill has two key state-wide provisions: banning personal electronic devices during the school day and prohibiting school use of social media for communication. The Thetford Academy Drama Department will present the one act play, RUE, by Mandy Conner. This production is part of the Vermont State Drama Council’s One Act Festival. The 14 athletes representing Thetford Academy at New Englands last Saturday had an exciting and inspiring day at the Reggie Lewis Track in Boston, surrounded by the best runners, jumpers and throwers in our six-state region. They also performed incredibly well, setting new school and state records. The Girls' and Boys' Basketball programs have officially concluded their regular season play, with both Varsity Teams advancing to the postseason. Congratulations to the Boys' and Girls' Middle School Teams on finishing the season strong. The JV Girls' Team battled numerous injuries throughout the season, but managed to play their final games at full strength.
