Each fall, college representatives come to TA to talk with students and share an inside look at their school's academics, campus life, and application process. These visits are a great opportunity for students to make an initial in-person contact with a school, gauge their "fit" with the school's profile, and dive more deeply into the school's admissions process. Attending a college representative's event is also an important way for students to demonstrate interest in a specific school, which can support their application later on. Dear TA Families, We have a few invitations for students and families as we move into week three of the school year. For Students: Clubs & Office Hours Begin on Sept. 10-11Starting next week, we will shift into our normal routines for Power Hour, the activity/lunch block in the middle of each day. In addition to having our first weekly assembly of the fall (on Monday), we will have our first Sign-Up Days on Wednesday and Thursday. In July, TA was excited to welcome Kate Reimanis to the role of garden coordinator and Horticulture teacher. Kate is a longtime educator, most recently at the pre-K level, and for many years served as a farm-to-school educator. For many years, the Thetford Academy Alumni Association (TAAA) has provided concessions at TA's annual Woods Trail Run, providing delicious homemade food, fresh hot chocolate and coffee, baked goods, and more. If you've ever attended Woods Trail, you know this service is invaluable to the event's thousands of runners, volunteers, and spectators. TAAA does it all, donating the proceeds back to TA to support of academic, athletic, and extracurricular opportunities for students. Dear TA Families, I am excited to reach out to you on this first Friday of the school year and begin my routine of sharing a weekly message with the school community. There is a cooler touch to the morning air and an earlier slant to the setting sun in the evenings. Indeed, autumn is arriving soon and back-to-school season is upon us. Thetford Academy officially launches the new school year on Wednesday, August 27.
