Dear Thetford Academy Parents and Guardians, Enclosed with this letter is your student’s 3rd quarter report card, marking the half-way point of spring semester.  Third quarter was split into two parts: the three weeks in February when students started meeting in classes synchronously but still online, and the five weeks in March when students and teachers were able to convene together for class. As you review the report card with your student at home, and discuss and reflect together on their learning during this period, this might be an important topic. How did the February and March experiences differ, and what was their...

Dear TA Families & Students, I am writing today with an update about our plan for the remainder of the school year. We will maintain the program that we have had in place starting March 1, with the combination of in-person classes, online learning, pod time, and remote classes on Wednesdays. We are now six weeks in with the current schedule and a lot is going well. Teachers and students are back in classes together and this has been a game changer for second semester. I've attached a couple of photos to give you a glimpse of our experience in March (and there...

The Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), founded in 1960, was "an organization of organizers with 'field secretaries' working full-time for change in communities across the Deep South. In 1960, Ms. Patch was a student at Swarthmore College. On weekends, she would join other students and head to nearby...

The TA summer program will build on and take place in collaboration with the existing TOP summer leadership trips that have been offered over the past 4 summers. We will have more details to share about the expanded TA...

Thetford Academy's Alpine Ski Team, led by coaches Amy Huyffer and Paul Dixon, finished out the season with the boys competing in the state championships for the fourth year in a row. The slalom race was held on Monday, March 15, at Cochran's Ski Resort and the giant slalom on Wednesday at Smuggler's Notch. The competing TA boys (Knute Linehan, Jack Hastings, Ben Acker, Logan Wurtz, Harley Ransom, and Tucker Gaffney) raced hard on a tough course Monday at Cochran's, with temps in the single digits and "firm" snow conditions. Riley Burkins, a four-year varsity veteran, injured his shoulder in the...
