There is a common sentiment among researchers that what gets tracked is what gets prioritized. This certainly has a ring of truth to it in schools. Report cards, for example, give us key information on how students are doing in individual classes each semester. They are an essential metric to understanding academic progress - but they don’t have to be the only one. Since 2021, we have been integrating portfolios and transferable skills into our school-wide curriculum at Thetford Academy. This weekend, TA students gave audiences a rollicking performance of the iconic musical Grease. If you were lucky enough to get a ticket to one of the four sold-out shows, you were treated to a joyful trip to Rydell High, complete with leather jackets, poodle skirts, and all the drama of high school in the 1950s. Dear TA Families, Our second Roundtable Day of the spring today marked the beginning of the final stretch of the school year. What lies ahead?  🎭 Spring musical performances of Grease - all weekend! 5/16-5/18 🗓️ Three full weeks of classes and a fourth week focused on final projects and exams. 5/19-6/13 🪅 Our annual Student Appreciation Week with special activities planned each day, plus a Spirit Week organized by Student Council. This summer, Thetford Academy and Hanover High School debaters have teamed up to launch the Upper Valley Speech and Debate Camp. The camp, hosted on campus at TA, is a week-long program designed to help students build confidence, sharpen their public speaking, and develop strong critical thinking and argumentation skills – all in a fun and welcoming environment. This spring, most of the track and field updates from coach Joel Breakstone begin with something like "in less than ideal conditions." or "in misty, cool conditions." - an acknowledgment of just how tough the weather has been for our athletes this season.
