Thirteen Thetford Academy athletes competed this weekend at the New England Track and Field Championship in New Britain, CT, the largest group from TA that has ever competed at outdoor New Englands. TA athletes set three new VT state records and, for the first time ever, TA brought home two New England championship medals - both earned by senior Uly Junker-Boyce. For the second time in three years, the Panthers roared to the state title in a rematch vs. rival White River Valley. Prior to their 2023 championship win, Panthers baseball hadn't clinched a title since 1987 - but it's safe to say things are looking up for TA on the diamond. The Panthers walked into the game on Saturday with a strong season behind them and fresh off a hard-fought semifinal win vs. 6-seed Green Mountain. Thetford Academy's Class of 2025 is winding down their high school career with a series of milestones and celebrations - baccalaureate, final exams, class day, and finally, graduation. Graduation week started Sunday with TA's traditional baccalaureate ceremony, featuring student speeches from graduating seniors Ethan Roy and Caleb Crossett, and a musical presentation from Halogenica, a student choral ensemble. The Panther boys had another record-breaking day on Thursday, defeating 17 teams in the Division 3 track and field championship to take home their sixth consecutive state title. The team's seniors Uly Junker-Boyce, Luke Miller, Brady Sloop, and Evan Rich earned 127 of the teams 164.5 points and took the top spot in seven meet events.
