Dear TA Families, As September comes to a close, we mark the midway point of Quarter 1. It's hard to believe, but students have been in school for a little over four weeks already! On Saturday, October 7, Thetford Academy will host the 32nd Woods Trail Run, a truly unique TA event that for many participants and spectators, is the most-anticipated cross country event of the season. The event, founded by TA parent and former board member Dan Grossman, is well known for many things: great music, great food (shout out to the Thetford Academy Alumni Association), great energy, and great people. Autumn is a great time to get outside in Vermont, and the Thetford Outdoor Program is making the most of it. TOP outings are free and open to all TA students and showcase the best of the season in the Upper Valley. With options from rock climbing in Royalton, canoeing the Connecticut River, to yurt camping in the Thetford Hill State Forest, there is something for every type of outdoor adventurer to enjoy. Dear TA Families, We had a fabulous day hiking, exploring, and enjoying the trails and peaks of nearby mountains on Friday. On Friday, September 22, a beautifully sunny first day of autumn, Thetford Academy students and staff headed out to six regional peaks for a day of hiking. We had perfect conditions for the 45th Frederick Torrey Mountain Day. For the first time since September 2019, the pandemic (with its many limitations and accompanying bus shortages) was not in our way, and we were able to return to the tradition of each grade heading out to climb its 'own' mountain. It was a great Homecoming for the Panthers on Saturday - both the boys and girls varsity soccer teams defeated Lyndon Institute and added a "W" to their season record. The girls took the field at 11:00 a.m. on TA's, up two at the half and finishing it off in the second to take LI 5-1. The boys followed suit, shutting out Lyndon 5-0. On Wednesday, the Panther boys took a loss v. Hazen (home) and now stand at 4-1. The girls travel to Lake Region on Thursday, followed by the boys on Saturday. Next week, both teams take...
