After the last bell signaled the end of the school day and the beginning of February break, TA’s campus cleared out quickly, leaving only one group of students behind. In the robotics classroom, TA’s team 4886 was hard at work preparing for the next day’s VT/NH VEX Robotics State Championship. The event, held on Saturday, February 19, at Manchester Community College in NH, was a qualifying event for the VEX Robotics World Championships. Thetford Academy's board president and head of school presented to the citizens of Thetford as part of the annual town meeting proceedings on Saturday, February 26, along with their Thetford Elementary School and Thetford Town School Board colleagues. The Town of Thetford held its meeting online again this year due to Covid precautions. Over the last thirteen years, Thetford Academy's Poetry Out Loud competition has become TA tradition. Poetry Out Loud is a recitation contest created by the National Endowment of the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, and administered with the State Arts Agencies of all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. TA's event on Wednesday featured six student contestants: Finn Liland '24, Gretta Koppers '22, Grace Solsaa '24, Annie Hesser '24, Sebastian LaBonte-Flye '24, and Mary Bosco '24. This health office update was originally sent to families on February 17, 2022 Current cases TA had one new Covid case this week, presumptive contacts are in the 8th grade. Upcoming plans related to the Covid pandemic: The Agency of Education and the Vermont Department of Health are moving schools and the general public toward understanding that Covid will become endemic, like the common cold or the flu.
