2nd Annual “Cowboy Classic” Field Event Meet Honors Coach Scott Chapman

For the second year in a row, TA’s track and field athletes past and present gathered on campus for the Scott Chapman Memorial Cowboy Classic Field Meet. The event honors coach Scott Chapman, whose expertise helped bring TA’s indoor and outdoor track and field teams to many championships. In addition to honoring Scott, the Cowboy Classic has become an annual track and field reunion, bringing generations of TA athletes together in celebration of their shared sport.

Hosted by Scott’s son Cole Chapman ’15 and TA track & field coaches Emily Silver and Joel Breakstone, this year’s field meet featured events in the long jump, discus, and shot put. The athletes – including some brave parents of TA alums – competed in this joyful meet while spectators cheered and visited with one another.

Before the event’s close, attendees gathered for a photo with a new plaque honoring Scott’s contributions to Thetford Academy’s track and field program. The plaque was a gift made possible by donations from last year’s meet and was installed this spring on TA’s South Campus. With camaraderie, competition, and shared memories, the Scott Chapman Memorial Cowboy Classic field event is fast becoming a TA tradition – and a perfect remembrance for a track and field coach who brought his love of the sport to generations of TA students.
