Dear TA Families,

Mountain Day 2026!

The forecast that originally predicted mostly cloudy skies in our region today was fabulously incorrect. What a perfect autumn day to continue TA’s cherished Mountain Day tradition!

After a bit of preparation in advisory, students gathered by grade level and got ready to travel to their mountain. The buses rolled out of campus between 8 and 9am taking students to six of the peaks we can see from the library steps: Moosilauke, Black, Smarts, Cube, Cardigan, and Ascutney.

I joined the Class of 2030 today and got to experience (again!) the joy and challenge and community spirit involved in having a whole grade climb a mountain together. With our ‘rabbit’ at the front of the pack (Whit VanMeter) and our ‘turtle’ at the back (Kate Reimanis) and plenty of adults spread throughout the group, students were able to hike at their pace, take breaks, bond with friends and create new connections, and summit successfully. The top of Cardigan was incredibly windy but the rocky peak affords amazing 360 views across the Vermont and New Hampshire horizons. The visibility today was spectacular. Attached are some photos of the 9th grade trip and we will be sure to share more of the other grades next week.

Quarter 1 Midpoint

Fall is officially here with the equinox on Tuesday, the leaves are starting to turn, and today marks the midpoint of the first quarter. Classes have been in session four and a half weeks and are deep into the content and skills. This weekend would be an ideal time to check in as a family regarding your student’s academic progress, check assignment grades in Alma, and help support a strong second half of the quarter. 

Some questions you might ask as part of your check in: Is your student keeping up, do they understand expectations, are they feeling challenged, are they attending office hours if needed? Which classes do they need to engage more in? How are they using their time  in study center? Which resources at school are they tapping – or maybe need to tap into more? What are they enjoying, looking forward to, feeling inspired by? 

Fall Sports: Big Week Ahead!

Alongside academics, fall sports are in high gear as well. The coming week is a great time to come out and cheer on our athletes in their mid-season competitions. Home games include JV boys soccer on Saturday, girls varsity on Monday, boys varsity on Tuesday, middle school soccer on Wednesday, and boys again on Thursday. The week culminates in our huge Woods Trail Cross-Country Invitational Meet on Saturday 10/3, which will include high school and middle school races.
