Thetford Academy will host the 34th annual Woods Trail Run this Saturday, October 4, 2025. Now in its 34th year, the Woods Trail Run is TA’s largest event, featuring the best runners from schools across Vermont, New England, and New York.

This year, more than 2000 runners are expected to take on TA’s iconic 5K cross country course, the Dan Grossman Woods Trail. The vision of TA parent, board member, and longtime volunteer Dan Grossman, the course was a labor of love and community. Grossman recruited Olympic biathlete John Morton to design the trail, which winds through TA’s 295-acre forested campus. Challenging even the most accomplished runners, TA’s course is widely recognized as one of the best – and most difficult – courses in New England.

For the Thetford Academy community, the Woods Trail Run is an annual gathering of neighbors and a reunion of friends. The volunteer roster is long and includes veterans that have served the event for years – and for some, decades. There is still time to be a part of this year’s Woods Trail Run. Contact TA’s athletic director Bri Barnes to volunteer. We hope to see you for this TA tradition on October 4!
