34th Annual Woods Trail Run, Competition and Community

On Saturday, Thetford Academy once again welcomed thousands of runners and spectators from across New England for the Woods Trail Run, the school’s iconic annual cross country event. This year, the meet drew more than 2000 runners from six states and 90 different schools, with representation from all of New England and New York.

The Dan Grossman Woods Trail is a difficult 5K with long, slow hills like “Morty’s Monster” that challenge even the most talented runners. But the tough course doesn’t deter athletes from coming to Thetford – instead, for most, it’s part of the draw. At the Woods Trail Run, runners can test their mettle in a supportive community – where teams are known for cheering each other on to the finish line.

The sense of community is fostered, too, by the many staff and volunteers that make the event possible. “Woods Trail Run wouldn’t have the success it does without the amazing volunteers we have in our community,” said Athletic Director Bri Barnes. “We appreciate everyone who took part of all of their day to help this event ‘run’ so smoothly.” This year, there were more than 150 event volunteers helping with course set up, parking, concessions, post running, announcing, and more.

As for the race itself, how did Thetford Academy do? Athletic Director Bri Barnes reports that “PRs were set ALLLLL day long by the Panthers!” and shared the highlights below. For complete results, visit Lancer Timing
