Head of School Weekly Email: Taking the Stage
November 14, 2025
Dear TA Families,
The Martha Jane Rich Theater is an amazing resource for our school. We use it in lots of ways and love getting students into the theater for a variety of meetings, experiences, and classes. We especially love getting students out of the audience seats and onto the stage!
Fall Play
Coming up on November 21-23 is our big fall production for the drama program. This year the Fall Play class is putting on “Puffs”, a fun-filled, Harry Potter-inspired performance. The cast and crew (all 38 of them!), along with teacher/director Jeff Seabaugh, are looking forward to hosting audiences on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for four shows. Visit the TA website to read more about Puffs, see the full cast and crew list, and purchase tickets online. Don’t miss out!
Poetry Slam
Last Friday Abby MacGregor and her creative writing class hosted the fall poetry slam. Bold and creative students signed up to read/perform an original poem before an audience of students and teachers and a panel of peer judges giving real-time ratings. Participants were welcomed to the stage by artist-in-residence Geof Hewitt, who played the role of MC for the slam. Thanks to the stage band who also took the stage and added a musical component to the event. (Check out the featured photos.)
Winter Concert
Mark the date! On December 10, the middle school chorus and high school instrumental classes will put on a winter concert in the Martha Jane Rich Theater. The concert is free and open to the community. We’d love to see family and friends in the audience! More details to come.
Gratitude to Recent Guest Speakers
It’s not easy getting on stage, and we applaud students for taking the risk. One of the ways we model and encourage is to invite adults to do so as well. Thanks to our Veterans Day speakers this year, Science Teacher Rachael Brown and TA alum Fred Peters, for sharing their stories of service in assembly on Monday. Thanks, also, to the four community members who recently participated in a writing panel to share insights and tips about how they approach writing in their professional work.
Best of luck to all who are involved in Puffs as they shift into the final week of rehearsals. I know we will all be inspired by their level of confidence and creativity on stage!
