Board Welcomes New Trustees

As we start a new year, the Thetford Academy Board of Trustees welcomes a cohort of new members. New trustees Dan Bromberg, Barbara DeFelice, and Randy Snelling have had a busy first month, with a board orientation on August 3, the first meeting of the year on August 13, and the annual board retreat coming up on August 28. Each brings valuable expertise and perspective to add to the board, and we appreciate their willingness to serve as governance volunteers for Thetford Academy.

Barbara DeFelice: Barbara is a resident of East Thetford and the parent of a TA grad (class of 2020). She is a retired librarian who worked at Dartmouth Libraries for over 30 years, holding numerous director-level positions during her tenure. Barbara has held many volunteer roles in the Thetford community and beyond, staying very busy since her retirement in 2019. Barbara studied English at the University of Massachusetts and went on to earn two master’s degrees, one in Library & Information Science from Simmons, and a Master of Arts In Liberal Studies on the History of Earth Sciences from Dartmouth.

Dan Bromberg: Dan is the dad of three school-age children attending Thetford Academy and Thetford Elementary School and, by day, serves as the inaugural dean of the graduate school at Vermont Law and Graduate School. He earned his doctorate at Rutgers University, his masters at UVM, and studied undergrad at SUNY-Albany. Dan started his career in the education field as a middle school teacher, before moving into leadership roles at the post-secondary level. Dan brings deep expertise in building and sustaining high quality academic programs to his role on the TA Board, along with prior experience serving on a school board.

Randy Snelling: Randy is a realtor by trade. He holds an associate’s degree from Lyndon State College, where he attended following his graduation from Thetford Academy in 2014. A native of Lyme, NH and a resident of Thetford, VT, Randy brings a personal perspective to the role and importance of sending towns at Thetford Academy. He and his wife (a fellow TA alum) are active in the Thetford Academy Alumni Association and run the annual TAAA craft show in November. Randy has served on other boards and volunteered as an EMT and firefighter. He enjoys the experience of contributing to his community – and is looking forward to giving back to his alma mater.

Other trustee updates: We are starting our second year with student trustees on the TA Board. Maddie Piecuch ‘28 will return to serve a second year and Benjamin Barton ‘29 will join as the new student representative to the board. Additionally, with the recent appointment of Chelsea Fortunati to the Thetford Town School District Board, we anticipate that Chelsea will serve as the new joint member of both the TA and TTSD boards and look forward to welcoming her in September.

Visit the board section on the TA website for a list of trustees, monthly meeting info, and other governance documents.
