Counseling Office to Host College Information Sessions

Thetford Academy’s Counseling Office will host a series of information sessions this winter to introduce current juniors and their families to the college choice and application process.
The first of these sessions, scheduled for January 22, 2024 at 6 p.m. (virtual meeting), will provide an introductory overview to the college application process and tips and resources to help families get started. Some of the topics that TA will cover include:
- Roles and responsibilities of the student/parent/counselor
- A general timeline of tasks to cover
- Holistic assessment of applicants
- Naviance
- The Common Application
- Standardized tests
- Demonstrated Interest
- Financial Aid
- Scholarships
At the end of the session, there will be time for Q&A and for those who are unable to attend, the session will be recorded.
On February 12, 2024, at 6 p.m. the series will continue with a virtual panel of college admissions staff from local colleges and universities. Open to all 11th graders and their families, this discussion is an opportunity for students to learn about the college application process so they’ll know what to expect during their senior year.
