Dear TA Families, The culminating experiences of the school year continued this week. I enjoyed the end of my day today spending time with our youngest and oldest students - first, practicing with the senior class as they prepare for the baccalaureate event on Sunday; and then, watching the middle school instrumental band class show off their musicianship with a small performance for peers and teachers. I started my day with our students right in the middle of the pack - our 10th graders presenting their sophomore anthologies and reading from original work, published authors, and the work of their classmates....

Dear TA Families, Culminating ExperiencesThis past week was a busy one with many classes taking their learning beyond the classroom walls - showcasing projects, performing for public audiences, and putting their skills and knowledge to the test in real world settings.  Drama students delighted audiences with a high-energy and colorful performance of Godspell. With a new "Zen Zone" in the library, Thetford Academy's Getting to Y (GTY) team hopes to help students feel safe, supported, and connected. The Zen Zone is, by design, a calm, quiet space for students to take a break, relax, and focus on self-care. It's a response to the GTY analysis of the most recent VT Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), which showed that many students may struggle with feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a lack of community connection. Maddison Wilhite, Thetford Academy Class of 2013, believes she might be TA’s biggest fan–her classmates thought so, voting her the student with the “Most School Spirit” in her senior year. Wilhite’s family (originally from western Nebraska) moved around “a ton” before settling in Thetford in 2007. At TA, she found community, mentors, and lifelong friends.  Everything she has accomplished in the ten years since her TA graduation, Wilhite says, can be traced back to a foundational experience at Thetford Academy. After high school, she enrolled at South Dakota State University, following in the footsteps of her brother Taylor (Class of 2012)....
