Autumn is a great time to get outside in Vermont, and the Thetford Outdoor Program is making the most of it. TOP outings are free and open to all TA students and showcase the best of the season in the Upper Valley. With options from rock climbing in Royalton, canoeing the Connecticut River, to yurt camping in the Thetford Hill State Forest, there is something for every type of outdoor adventurer to enjoy. Dear TA Families, We had a fabulous day hiking, exploring, and enjoying the trails and peaks of nearby mountains on Friday. On Friday, September 22, a beautifully sunny first day of autumn, Thetford Academy students and staff headed out to six regional peaks for a day of hiking. We had perfect conditions for the 45th Frederick Torrey Mountain Day. For the first time since September 2019, the pandemic (with its many limitations and accompanying bus shortages) was not in our way, and we were able to return to the tradition of each grade heading out to climb its 'own' mountain. It was a great Homecoming for the Panthers on Saturday - both the boys and girls varsity soccer teams defeated Lyndon Institute and added a "W" to their season record. The girls took the field at 11:00 a.m. on TA's, up two at the half and finishing it off in the second to take LI 5-1. The boys followed suit, shutting out Lyndon 5-0. On Wednesday, the Panther boys took a loss v. Hazen (home) and now stand at 4-1. The girls travel to Lake Region on Thursday, followed by the boys on Saturday. Next week, both teams take...

On Tuesday, September 19, Thetford Academy's Counseling Office hosted a virtual college information session for current seniors and their families. The one-hour workshop, led by director of counseling Mark Pichette, provided an overview of the college application process and offered families tips and resources to help along the way. Dear TA Families, Today was a special day for our new high schoolers - the Class of 2027 - as they all participated in our annual 9th grade retreat. Fortunately, it was a beautiful autumn day (no rain!). Students spent the day outdoors on the TA south campus connecting as a class in a variety of team building activities, facilitated by their advisors, counselors, and a cadre of 12th grade peer leaders.
