Influenza We have several cases of confirmed influenza (flu). We had 11-27 students with fever out each day this week. There are at least 3 other viruses making students sick.Flu shots help; please consider having students get their flu shots. The holiday craft bazaar is back! After a two year pandemic pause, the Thetford Academy Alumni Association will again host its popular holiday craft showcase on Saturday, November 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Longtime organizer Jessica Eaton '81, who has successfully managed the community event for years, this year passed the torch to TA alums Tegan and Randy Snelling '14. TA's Design Technology class teamed up with WindowDressers and the Joint Thetford Energy Committee to help Thetford's Latham Library save energy this winter. WindowDressers, based in Rockland, ME and working throughout New England, "brings community volunteers of all economic and social situations together to improve the warmth and comfort of interior spaces, lower heating costs, and reduce carbon dioxide pollution by producing low-cost insulating window inserts that function as custom, interior-mounted storm windows." Another big weekend for the Panthers! On Saturday, TA's varsity boys soccer team (#6) ended their playoff run with a 4-0 loss v. Peoples Academy (#3), closing out a mixed season at 7-7-2. Back in Thetford, TA and an army of volunteers (thank you!) welcomed high school cross country teams from across the state to the VT High School Cross Country Championships. The event, hosted at Thetford Academy since 1991, brings close to 1000 runners each year competing for the state title on the Dan Grossman Woods Trail. Dear TA Families, One of the many markers this year of an evolving 'return to normal' is an uptick in the number of field trips students are embarking on. Field trips were traditionally an integral component of the environmental studies and outdoor education class and teacher Scott Ellis has brought back a full schedule of them this year.
