The course description for a new Cybersecurity class is clear about the importance of the course's content in today's society: "Hackers are working 24/7 to get your data. They want your bank accounts, your passwords; they want access to your computer and your network." The course, a collaboration among River Bend Career and Technical Center, River Valley Community College, and TA is preparing students to address these issues and enter the emerging technical field of cybersecurity – where skilled professionals are in high demand. River Bend is offering Cybersecurity as a two-year, half-day program consisting of four semester-long courses that...

The Thetford Academy Alumni Association needs your help! This year, TA will be hosting both the Vermont State Cross Country Meet (Oct. 30) and the New England's meet (Nov.13). TAAA has generously donated their time and talent to run concessions at these events, with all proceeds supporting scholarships for seniors, TA athletics, and grants to support faculty and curriculum needs. If you have a few hours to spare to support TAAA in their work and enjoy TA cross country events - there are several slots for volunteers still available. Specifically, TAAA is looking for support with clean-up after the events, with...

Dear TA Families, Here are some important highlights for the week. Last Day of Quarter 1 is Friday 10/22 We want to remind everyone that there is just one week left in the first quarter of the school year. If students have assessments they want to retake, additional drafts of writing assignments to revise, make-up work from recent absences to turn in, important projects or tests coming up in the next few days -- now is the time to really focus, prep, and follow through on those deadlines. We encourage parents and students to use Web2School as a resource to track progress and assignments...

On Friday, October 8, TA teachers participated in the first in-service day since school's opening six weeks ago. In the day-to-day bustle of the school year, in-service time is a valuable opportunity for teachers to collaborate, share strategies and resources, and tackle new skills. It's a time to reflect together on the work of teaching and learning and to reconnect with colleagues as part of a professional learning community.  Teachers started the day with a hands-on session about electronic portfolios, led by Rebecca Walter and other colleagues on the school’s academic advisory committee. Instead of just listening to a presentation on...

Following nine months of intensive work, the TA Anti-Racism Task Force presented their findings and recommendations to the school's board of trustees this summer. The group’s final recommendations report is now complete and ready to be shared with the community and integrated into our school’s strategic plan and actions moving forward. The 12-page report includes an executive summary; an overview of the group's process last year, concluding with an at-a-glance list of its 11 recommendations (page 4); followed by an in-depth review of each recommendation outlining suggested action steps and resources. The recommendations connect with many aspects of the school's...
