Dear TA Families, Here are some important highlights for the week. Last Day of Quarter 1 is Friday 10/22 We want to remind everyone that there is just one week left in the first quarter of the school year. If students have assessments they want to retake, additional drafts of writing assignments to revise, make-up work from recent absences to turn in, important projects or tests coming up in the next few days -- now is the time to really focus, prep, and follow through on those deadlines. Save the date and spread the word! Thetford Academy will host Admissions Open House events on Nov. 7, 2021 (in-person) and Nov. 11, 2021 (virtual). Open to all prospective families entering grades 7-12, TA's Open House events are an opportunity to learn more about our academic, athletic, outdoor, and co-curricular programming. On Friday, October 8, TA teachers participated in the first in-service day since school's opening six weeks ago. In the day-to-day bustle of the school year, in-service time is a valuable opportunity for teachers to collaborate, share strategies and resources, and tackle new skills. Following nine months of intensive work, the TA Anti-Racism Task Force presented their findings and recommendations to the school's board of trustees this summer. The group’s final recommendations report is now complete and ready to be shared with the community and integrated into our school’s strategic plan and actions moving forward. The 12-page report includes an executive summary; an overview of the group's process last year, concluding with an at-a-glance list of its 11 recommendations (page 4); followed by an in-depth review of each recommendation outlining suggested action steps and resources. Dear TA Families,Gratitude for Friday Yesterday was one of those precious few days in the school year when only the educators are on campus. Inservice time is invaluable for colleagues to come together, reflect on the year, plan and work together, share strategies and resources, and hone our craft. English students at Thetford Academy are encouraged to share their work with the Young Writers Project, a Vermont-based "community of young people who create and connect online through words, photos, and art."
