Indoor Track Team Earns New Records at New Englands

This weekend, several athletes from Thetford Academy’s indoor track team competed at the New England High School Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston. TA’s team competed in three events, the 4 x 800 relay, the 2-mile run, and the long jump. Several students beat their personal records, and three put up new Thetford Academy indoor track records.

Sophomore Uly Junker-Boyce jumped 20′ 3 1/2″ in the long jump, a PR that placed him third on school record board. He was also the top sophomore at the meet.

Ava Hayden, Ceci Luce, Cissy Dai, and Abby Egner ran the 4 x 800 relay in 11:52.34, the second-best finish in Thetford Academy’s school history. An impressive performance by senior Cissy Dai who was brand new to indoor track (had never even SEEN an indoor track, said Coach Buttrey) and stepped in for injured sophomore Sora Bolles with no prior competition experience!

Ava Hayden also competed in the 2-mile, her time of 12:31.98 was a PR that when converted to a finishing time of 12:27.55 in the 3200-meter race, earned her second place on the school record board.

Congratulations to all of our indoor track and field athletes for a great season!
