Head of School Weekly Email: Quarter 3 Progress

Quarter 3 Progress
With the official start of spring this weekend, it’s a good time to take stock of where we are in the academic calendar. There are two weeks remaining in the 3rd quarter, which wraps up on April 3. I encourage students and families to check in together about performance in classes and review assignments and grades in Alma – thetfordacademy.getalma.com. Most classes are taught and assessed on a semester basis, so April 3 is an important halfway point between January and June to gauge learning progress.

Quarter 3 is also a time when we do state testing. I want to commend our 7th, 8th, and 9th graders for their focus this past week with the English/Language Arts portions of VTCAP. On Wednesday, March 25, the same grades will be taking the VTCAP math assessment; and in April, 8th and 11th graders will do the science portion.

🏅 Congratulations to the seniors who were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society at River Bend this week: Madison Balch, Andrew Fraser, Lula Gage, Andy MacNeil, Adrick Schauer, and Lorelei St. Martin – our next generation of EMTs, chefs, builders, mechanics, farmers, and more!

🎭 We can’t wait to hear how the one act cast and crew perform at their regional competition today! With their modern Bridgerton-inspired take on 19th century English society in their adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, our TA team is sure to intrigue and wow their peer audience and judges.

🍁 Thank you to the team of 10th and 11th grade students in the environmental studies and outdoor education class for taking the lead on the sugaring operation and for hosting TA’s Maple Community Day tomorrow, March 22: Lucas Balch, Aiden Braley, Astrid Girdwood, Tanner Hardy, Zo Hayward, Marshall Osgood, Brayden Prue, Kai Slayton, and Lincoln Smith.

📣 I feature individual and team accomplishments routinely in my weekly messages – but I can’t always keep up with all of the amazing things our students are doing around the school and the state! For a steady stream of good news from TA, follow our social media accounts: TA Facebook or TA Instagram.
