Thetford SQC to Host Free Film Screening of “1776”

The Thetford Semiquincentennial Committee (SQC) is excited to share its next event, a video screening of We the People Theatre’s musical 1776 on Saturday, April 11 at 7 p.m. in the Martha Jane Rich Theater at Thetford Academy. The screening is free and open to the public.

1776 was performed live in the spring of 2018 at the Briggs Opera House in White River Junction, VT. Produced by Thetford resident Perry Allison, the production also features 26 local actors and many local technical crew members.

The Tony Award-winning comedy by Sherman Edwards and Peter Stone based on the events leading up to the drafting and signing of the Declaration of Independence. The early-1970s musical won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1969 and is considered by many to be the precursor to Hamilton.
