Undefeated Panthers Shut Out Bellows Falls 8-0 for Second Consecutive State Title

The Panthers ended their undefeated 2025-2026 season with another big win at Centennial Field in Burlington on Saturday, shutting out Bellows Falls 8-0 to earn their second consecutive D3 State Champion title – their third in four years.

In the Valley News, Coach Kris Keelty talked about the team’s season – 15 wins with an average margin of victory of just over ten runs – and legacy. “They’ve been playing baseball here at Thetford for a long time, and I don’t think any team has run the table, so I mean, they can lay claim to being probably the best team Thetford has ever had,” he said. “That’s special.”

After a slow start, the Panthers built on a two-run lead in the bottom of the third, when senior Tommy Amber launched a fly ball into left field. The hit brought two Panthers – and Tommy – home to put the Panthers ahead 5-0. Sophomore Miles Lawrence effectively blocked any Bellows Falls comeback, pitching six scoreless innings over the course of the game.

The Valley News summed up the finish: “Thetford added to its lead in the bottom of the fifth on a single up the middle from Amber, a bases-loaded walk drawn by senior Owen Goodrich, and a sacrifice fly from senior Xander Oshoniyi. Lawrence took care of the Terriers in the top of the sixth, and Oshoniyi pitched the seventh to the tune of three strikeouts and a walk to seal the victory.”

The Panthers graduated nine seniors this weekend: Andrew Spooner, Logan Kuban, Liam Brooks, Owen Goodrich, Xander Oshoniyi, Tommy Amber, Adam Crockett, Sam Kraemer, and Sam Parkman.
