This summer, Thetford Academy and Hanover High School debaters have teamed up to launch the Upper Valley Speech and Debate Camp. The camp, hosted on campus at TA, is a week-long program designed to help students build confidence, sharpen their public speaking, and develop strong critical thinking and argumentation skills – all in a fun and welcoming environment. UVSDC is led by high school debater Daniel Mann (TA) and Oliver Benedict (Hanover), both rising seniors and leaders on their respective debate teams, with debate coaches Kristen Downey (TA) and Corin Benedict (Hanover) directing. This spring, most of the track and field updates from coach Joel Breakstone begin with something like "in less than ideal conditions." or "in misty, cool conditions." - an acknowledgment of just how tough the weather has been for our athletes this season. But, with true TA grit, the weather hasn't held the Panthers back from posting record-breaking performances meet after meet. On Saturday at the Burlington Invitational, senior Uly Junker-Boyce - in just his second long jump competition after an achilles injury during the indoor season - jumped 23' 4.5" in his first attempt of the day. Operation Day's Work - or "ODW Day" as it's known on campus - is a longstanding Thetford Academy tradition. This service-learning experience is student-led and managed and aims to make a difference in the lives of young people across the world. Despite the inclement weather, TA students fanned out across the Upper Valley to work at more than 3o job sites. They stacked wood, raked, painted, and...

Dear TA Families, Thetford Academy students fanned out into the community and around campus today, rolling up their sleeves and working on projects, as part of our annual ODW Service Day. Operation Day's Work is an international community service program that encourages young people to help raise funds for other young people around the globe. Our students contributed their labor today and the funds raised by our many community 'employers' will go to support the Alpha Drop-In Teen Center in Dula, Zimbabwe. Kudos to the ODW club for all of their coordination efforts with the many moving parts of the day...

"From the haunting opening music, the chirping of crickets, the green background light silhouetting the reeds and trees, and the illuminated firefly hats of the feu follet, the audience was transported not only to a clearly defined place and time, but a place and time inhabited by magic…The cast presented characterizations that successfully blended the broad strokes expected of a folktale with the subtle nuanced elements of interpersonal relationship."  - New England Drama Council on Thetford Academy's May 2nd production of Rue by Mandy Conner Guest post by Hanae Debo '24 This past weekend, Thetford Academy's One Act cast and crew represented...
