Dear TA Families, We are all excited for this weekend's performances of Radium Girls. Almost 20% of our high school students are a part of the play as cast, crew, and other roles. With over 30 students on the Fall Play roster plus others who are involved on their own time, the participation numbers are sky high - and the (almost) showtime energy on campus is palpable! Thetford Academy juniors Spencer Durkee and Dillon Vance have been a part of the region's youth mountain biking circuit for more than five years. Though TA doesn't have a mountain biking team (yet), they are standouts in the local scene. Both students race in two different leagues each year, for Vermont Youth Cycling (VTYC) and Woodstock Union Middle and High School, and this year competed in 10 races. A partnership has been growing between Thetford Academy’s Culinary Arts program and the school garden. This fall, school garden coordinator Ehrin Lingeman and culinary arts teacher Jennifer Gernhard teamed up to ensure the garden’s harvest was enjoyed by as many people as possible. Gernhard’s “Cooking for Health” course led an initiative to turn TA’s produce into delicious meals for the café meal program. Students in the class visited the garden each week to harvest tomatoes, peppers, snap beans, summer squash, onions, and more - and learned what it takes to grow fresh produce and bring the “farm to table.”  With each harvest,...

This November, Thetford Academy's Drama Department is excited to present Radium Girls by D.W. Gregory. Inspired by a true story, Radium Girls takes place in 1926, a time when radium was a miraculous treatment, Madame Curie was a global celebrity, and luminous watches were the newest fashion item—that is, until the girls who painted them started to get sick with an unexplained illness.
