The Panther boys had a great day at the Vermont Cross Country State Championship meet on October 25, finishing second among 11 teams in Division III. The team was down a key scorer due to illness, said Coach Joe Deffner, and the remaining runners "really picked it up and had an amazing race." In an interview with the Valley News, he also gave kudos to the team's top runners. "They pulled it off through really strong races from Ollie Emery, Peter Horan, and Zack Amber." A reflection by Mavis Downey '26 On Monday, October 27th, a group of student leaders from Thetford Academy attended Dartmouth’s 2025 UN Global Symposium on Youth Well-Being. The event brought together leading mental health experts, policymakers, and youth leaders to examine one of the most pressing issues of our time: the youth mental health crisis.  The Symposium opened with a fascinating panel discussion featuring several former U.S. Surgeons General. It has been a busy, busy time here at TA with a mix of serious and fun these last days of October, including lots of costumes (and jack-o-lanterns) on campus today! Thetford Academy robotics team 4886S, String Theory, is going to Worlds! Senior Connor Kutter-Walker and junior Duncan MacPhee won the Lobstah Bowl VEX VR5 Signature Event in Bangor, Maine, two weeks ago. Competing as the only team from the NH/VT league, they faced 60 teams from across the US and Canada - including California, Tennessee, and Quebec. Calling all Panthers! This Wednesday at 3:00 p.m., Thetford Academy’s varsity #6 seeded boys soccer team will host #10 Winooski in a semifinal matchup.  The Panthers quarterfinal win v. Vergennes last Friday was a thriller, with the two teams tied up 2-2 after 90 minutes of regular play - with no movement in overtime or double overtime.
