Dear TA Families, Season of Gratitude Students spent time in advisory on Tuesday reflecting on the theme of gratitude. With prompts such as - What is one thing you are thankful for now? Audio storytelling – from long-form documentaries to short digital narratives – is a booming creative medium. Through radio, podcasts, and other forms of digital sharing, an audio story invites the listener into an experience that feels both intimate and immersive. At Thetford Academy, current 8th grade students are learning about the art and science of how to tell a great audio story. On Monday, November 7, TA students gathered for a special assembly marking the upcoming Veterans Day holiday. The assembly opened with a performance of "A Light of Hope, A Song of Peace" by Thetford Academy's choral students, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and an introduction to the history and importance of Veterans Day from Social Studies teacher Stacy Barton '99. Guest speakers from Thetford's American Legion Post 79, TA alumnus Fred Adams '69 and Rob Ward, represented the Legion's members, who hail from Thetford, Vershire, W. Guest post from TA's robotics coach Leif LaWhite TA's robotics team 4886, traveled to Fryeburg, ME on Saturday for their first competition of the 23-24 season - and they brought home the aluminum.   TA sent four robots to the tourney: 4886S: Aden Perry, Connor Kutter-Walker, and Duncan MacPhee,  4886Y: Rowan Moody-A'Ness, Aiden Ouelette, Lucca Huling (and Tristan Woodward in absentia),  4886W: rookies Jesse Martin, Kai Slayton, (and Tanner Hardy in absentia)  and our middle-school team 4886X: Jay Hill, Stone Riegler, Meredith Sloop, and Connor Abraham The tournament began with 54 two-minute 2 vs. 2 bouts. Partners and opponents for these qualification matches were randomly assigned - and each TA robot competed in eight...

Dear TA Families, November is here and the first snowflakes fell this week. The cold doesn't stop us though. We had lots of exciting learning happening around campus this week - including outdoors, despite the chilly temps - as we launched our 2nd quarter of learning. Student Learning Spotlights at the Start of Quarter 2 Middle schoolers started the quarter off with a new rotation of afternoon electives.
