This weekend, the Thetford Academy Drama department wowed audiences with five rousing performances of the fall play "Puffs: Or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic." The play, a parody of the Harry Potter series following "the other" students at a wizarding academy, is a joy-filled romp about making it through high school, finding yourself, and learning the value of true friendship. Dear TA Families, Our campus will be bustling with activity this weekend. Come be a part of the fun! A team of five Thetford Academy student-athletes attended the VPA Student Leadership Conference in Burlington on November 10-11. Also in attendance were TA’s Athletic Director Bri Barnes, who was one of the organizers, and Coach AJ Darling.  On Monday the students attended peer-led workshops about student support and recognition, student engagement, and mental health, and a keynote presentation on the importance of building belonging in every space by VPA Assistant Executive Director, Dr. Lauren Young. I’ll be honest: I didn’t start a debate team at TA because I loved debate. I used to think debate was a competition where winning mattered more than reaching thoughtful conclusions, and rewarded people who could think quickly, not deeply. I worried that students would learn clever tricks to win rounds rather than how to navigate complex problems in the real world.  But becoming a coach completely changed my perspective. Dear TA Families, The Martha Jane Rich Theater is an amazing resource for our school. We use it in lots of ways and love getting students into the theater for a variety of meetings, experiences, and classes.
