Dear TA Families, The Martha Jane Rich Theater is an amazing resource for our school. We use it in lots of ways and love getting students into the theater for a variety of meetings, experiences, and classes. We especially love getting students out of the audience seats and onto the stage! Fall Play Coming up on November 21-23 is our big fall production for the drama program. This year the Fall Play class is putting on "Puffs", a fun-filled, Harry Potter-inspired performance. The cast and crew (all 38 of them!), along with teacher/director Jeff Seabaugh, are looking forward to hosting audiences on Friday, Saturday,...

Thetford Academy's Social Studies department recently hosted a Writing Forum focused on real-world applications for writing and the importance of effective written communication in everyday life. The event's four alumni panelists, Nathaniel Cook '06, Nathan Hill '02, Erika Hoffman-Kiess '86, and Lucy Wagner '03, work in different fields, but all agreed that their professional success often depends on their ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing. The forum's audience included students from all three first-semester required Social Studies courses and represented all high school grades. "The forum gave students a unique opportunity to hear from community members who went...

The air at Thetford Academy was electric with the sounds of whirring motors this past weekend as the school hosted its second annual Haunted Harvest Vex Robotics Tournament. The event saw teams from across the region gather for a day of intense competition, but it was the home teams that truly stole the show. Thetford Academy was well-represented, fielding an impressive eight teams—six from the high school and two from the middle school. As the day progressed, the friendly competition grew fiercer, with each match becoming more strategic and hard-fought, leading to a nail-biting conclusion that had spectators on the edge...

Thetford Academy’s Performing Arts Department proudly announces its fall theater production of Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic, a fast-paced, funny, and heartwarming reimagining of a familiar magical story—from the perspective of the loyal and often overlooked students known as the Puffs. Written by Matt Cox, Puffs tells the story of Wayne Hopkins, an ordinary boy from New Mexico who discovers he’s a wizard and is sorted into the most loyal—and often least celebrated—house at a certain school of magic. Over seven increasingly chaotic years, Wayne and his friends navigate spells, friendship, heartbreak,...

The Thetford Academy Alumni Association recently published their fall newsletter, sharing alumni news and events. Coming right up on November 22, TAAA will host the annual Holiday Craft Bazaar in the Vaughan Alumni Gymnasium. Donations are still needed for the Alumni Craft Table, a great place to share your crafts, handiwork, or baked goods and give back to TA at the same time. Another engagement opportunity for alumni is volunteering in TAAA's concessions for one of TA's big cross country meets. The proceeds from the volunteer-run concessions, totaling $10,000 - $15,000 each year, are donated to support academics and extracurricular...
