I'm sending out a shorter message to our community today, highlighting a few weather-related schedule changes and other upcoming calendar reminders. Event updates: The One Act Regional Festival, taking place at Thetford Academy, has been rescheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, March 24. Mark your calendars for fun, family friendly event hosted by Maple Leaf Children's Center at Thetford Academy! On Sunday, May 19, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Maple Leaf will host 5K and Kids Field Day on the Dan Grossman Woods Trail and Thetford Academy athletic fields. With a food truck, a raffle, fun kids activities, and a 5K, the event will have something for everyone. Dear TA Families, Re-Cap: Half-Day on Friday As I described in my message earlier this week, there are times in the school year when we need to 'take care of business' beyond the normal routine of classes, and that was our approach today. We designed the morning to create time for a range of activities as a school community - in our small group advisories, as a whole school of 300+, and with our grade-level classmates. An early spring means Thetford Academy's sugaring season is in full swing this week! Though the boiling started just recently, students in TA's half-day environmental studies and outdoor education course have been preparing since mid-February. In class, they have been learning about the history, science, and mechanics of this important Vermont tradition and each was tasked with becoming an "expert" in at least one part of the sugaring process. The Thetford Academy Drama Department will present the one act play, A Wind in the Door, adapted by Peter Royston from the novel by Madeleine L'Engle, on March 15 and 16, 2024. This production is part of the Vermont State Drama Council’s annual One Act Festival, a celebration of theatre and friendly competition that brings together drama programs from across the state.
