With spring in the air, the Thetford Outdoor Program (TOP) is gearing up for another successful growing season in TA's school garden. One of TOP's newest Summer Leadership opportunities, the middle school Garden Camp, aims to engage our youngest students in place-based, outdoor learning with a week-long experience in the school garden. Led by TA's resident farmer Ehrin Lingeman, students in the program will work and learn in TA's school garden and spend time visiting nearby farms. On Wednesday, March 30, 2022, the Riverbend Career and Technical Center hosted its annual induction ceremony for the National Technical Honor Society. This year, three TA students earned membership in NHTS, "an educational non-profit that exists to honor, recognize, and empower students and teachers in Career & Technical Education." Congratulations to Noah Abernethy, studying Construction Technology; Ariana Cooney, studying Health Science; and Natalia Gioia, studying Automotive Technology; for their academic achievements. Congratulations to TA Drama students! At Saturday’s Vermont Regional Drama Festival at Williamstown High School, their production of “The Insanity of Mary Girard” was recognized for Excellence in Storytelling Through Cohesive Expression of Tragedy. The festival was a welcome return to live performances after a two-year Covid hiatus. Individual awards for Excellence in Acting were given to Annie Hesser, Mary Bosco, and Acadia Cook. Fritz Junker was recognized for Excellence in Lighting Design, and Hunter Harris was recognized for her Outstanding Incidental Music.  The One Act Club wants to thank everyone who attended the community performances and offered such useful feedback for polishing their show, and helped to support their trip to Williamstown. Dear TA Families, It has been a high-energy week with a host of events involving community audiences. How wonderful to be able to invite others in again to witness our learning, to enjoy our performances, and to celebrate achievements with us.  Kudos to the following groups and individuals for their public demonstrations of learning - and this is just a partial list of the whirlwind of activity picking up this spring! The Thetford Outdoor Program has an exciting slate of adventures planned for the summer. This year, the TOP Summer Leadership program includes a variety of new outdoor opportunities alongside favorites from past years. Students can canoe camp on the Connecticut River paddle trail, experience rock-climbing in Rumney, NH, or join the TA Trail Crew. In the new GLOW (Girls, Ladies, or Whoever) hybrid backpacking and canoe trip, open to all students who identify as girls, young ladies, or women always or sometimes, students will develop leadership skills, explore the role of gender in the outdoors, and learn about the natural...


Current illnesses: TA is seeing many, many cases of an upper respiratory virus.We also continue to see several cases of a stomach bug.A friendly reminder, students with upper respiratory symptoms still need to do a home rapid Covid test. Take home kits are available in the Health Office.If your child is sick they must stay home until they are all better. The RONALD MCDONALD DENTAL VAN will be back the third week in April.
