On Tuesday, we will begin our third quarter of the school year and a new semester. High schoolers will have an entirely new schedule of classes. Middle schoolers will maintain the same schedule and teachers for most of their day, with just a rotation in their afternoon arts/tech electives. Students in English 10 presented their Anthologies in the Martha Jane Rich Theater on January 7 to an audience of families and faculty and student guests. This year marks the 32nd year of the project started by retired teacher Peggy Sadler back in 1991. The Anthology Project is a rite of passage at Thetford Academy, one that every student must complete as part of TA’s required English curriculum. It's been a great week for the Panthers! The girls basketball team faced off v. Hartford last Friday night at home, earning their fourth straight victory of the season with a 73-24 win. Junior Addie Cadwell led the scoring with 17 points, followed by Charlize Brown with 14, Kelsey Bogie 13, and Taylor West 11. Whitney Lewis also scored in the double-digits with 10 points. On Monday, the girls traveled to Oxbow for another decisive 80-39 win against the Olympians. Dear TA Families, Thank you again for supporting the day of remote learning on Wednesday. We really appreciate everyone's flexibility and adaptability!  Early January is a pivotal time in the academic calendar at TA. Students return from holiday break and immerse themselves back into classes for the final stretch of the semester. Students are working on culminating projects, essays, performances, exams, and reflections this week and next. TA's student athletes kept busy over the two week winter break with a full schedule of practice and competition. Basketball season is in full swing, the alpine ski team is (sort of) back on snow, and the indoor track team had their first meet at the University of Vermont last weekend. This Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Martha Jane Rich Theater, TA students in the Fall Play class will stage their final performances of the semester. The performances, titled "In Our Own Words," will feature a trio of original short plays written by students as their final project. These plays were created using the process of "devised theatre," also sometimes referred to as "collaborative creation."
