In his recent book of poems, “The Many Moods of Dis-ease,” Ross Putnam, TA class of 1966, explores the wide range of emotions he has experienced since his diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease in 2007. “[The poems] are written for those living with all neurologically degenerative disorders, their care partners, as well as society in general,” Ross says. He hopes that his words, sharing his “journey of adversity, acceptance, sorrow, and hope” will help others navigate similar challenges.  Ross is the youngest of five Putnam siblings to graduate from Thetford Academy. Learn more about TA's alpine ski program with this FAQ-style overview. Co-Coach Amy Huyffer provides this informative (and witty) post to help students and families think more about joining the team. Middle school and high school students are invited to participate. The season starts in late November. On Saturday, more than 1,000 runners from 36 schools across Vermont converged onto the Thetford Academy campus for the VPA's cross country championship. TA's teams took on 12 competitor teams in their Div. III races: Craftsbury Academy, Stowe, BFA-Fairfax, Lake Region, Randolph Union High School, Danville, Northfield, Richford, Oxbow, Rice Memorial, and Peoples Academy. TA's girls entered the race after a challenging week; one runner had been ill, another injured. By Saturday, though, all six runners in TA's lineup rallied - healthy, strong, and ready to compete. Saturday was a big day for Thetford Academy's VEX Robotics Team 4886–their first competition of the season and the first in-person VEX event for VT/NH since the state championships in February of 2020. The VEX kickoff event, hosted at Manchester Community College, brought together 23 student teams from 6 schools to compete in VEX's "Tipping Point" Challenge.
