Last week, Thetford Academy’s VEX robotics team 4886 S - Connor Kutter-Walker '26 and Duncan MacPhee '27- headed to Maine to compete in the state’s first-ever VEX V5 Signature Event.  The Robotics Education and Competition Foundation describes these Signature events as “an amped-up version of tournament play,” designed to give students the opportunity to play in a world class tournament. They feature “a level of technical expertise, production value, and overall event quality that is above and beyond that of a standard tournament.” Maine’s Lobstah Bowl, hosted by the University of Maine at Orono, featured 43 talented teams from across the U.S....

TA's cross country team ran at the Manchester Invitational this past Saturday. Captains Ava Hayden and Brady Sloop led their teams with top 10 finishes in their respective races. Ava finished 5th (out of 219 racers), covering the 5K course for Varsity Small Schools in 20:34. On the boys side, Brady was 9th out of 280 racers, finishing in a time of 17:04. Other significant races were turned in by Hardy Payson and Paul Hesser who both took two minutes off of their personal bests in the 5K, while newcomer Ella Harvey took one minute off of her time, finishing in...

Mountain Day! Yesterday the whole school ventured out to six trailheads in our region, stretching from Mt. Moosilauke in the north to Mt. Ascutney in the south, carrying on TA's Mountain Day tradition, first started in 1979. It was a beautiful day to enjoy autumn beauty and connect as a community. The hikes aren't easy, and we hope everyone felt inspired by the experience and the challenge. Sharing a few photos (attached) of our youngest and oldest hikers - the Class of 2030 on Mt. Cube and the Class of 2025 on Mt. Moosilauke. Look for more next week as we...

On Thursday at 6pm, TA's Counseling team will host a virtual information night for seniors (and their families) thinking about college or planning to apply to college this fall. The event is designed to provide an overview of the college application process and offer resources and tips for success. Topics will include: how to navigate the college application process, applying for financial aid, and identifying scholarship opportunities. Counselors will also share information for students considering a gap year or deferred enrollment. The virtual event will also cover roles and responsibilities among the student, parent, and school counselor. Attendees will learn...

The varsity boys opened their season with a four-game winning streak - two of them shutouts - and are showing no signs of slowing down. With what the Journal Opinion called the Panthers’ “high-powered offense” (great photos in last week’s edition) and sophomore Matthew McGovern guarding the net, the boys have been scoring well - and not letting much through. Next up, the Panthers travel to Hazen, then take on Lake Region at home this Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Learn who’s on the team- and follow the Panthers on Scorebook Live for game schedule and scores.  On the girls side, the...

The event, founded by TA parent and former board member Dan Grossman, is well known for many things: great music, great food (shout out to the Thetford Academy Alumni Association), great energy, and great people. Of course, the Woods Trail Run is also known for its scenic 5K course, the Dan Grossman Woods Trail, designed by former Olympic biathlete John Morton. The course winds through TA’s 295-acre forested campus, challenging even the most accomplished runners with hills like the aptly named “Morty’s Monster." For the Thetford community, the event is an annual gathering of neighbors and a reunion of...
