TA News

Thetford Academy’s campus sprang to life on Thursday, August 18, as faculty and staff returned to campus for back to school in-service. Returning staff warmly welcomed TA’s 14 new staff members before settling down to breakfast from the Panther Cafe. A slideshow of photos in the background highlighted the staff's many summer adventures: hiking, camping, traveling, good food, and more. Over three days, our dedicated faculty and staff dug in to prepare for the upcoming year. Large group sessions focused on school-wide topics, including TA's advisory program, school culture, and the nuts and bolts planning for the start of school. Teachers...

If you're reading this post, you're probably already subscribed to Thetford Academy's weekly e-newsletter. This round-up of TA highlights and happenings is aimed to provide everyone in our community - our parents (current and former), alumni, neighbors, friends, and others - a way to stay engaged and informed. It's summer harvest season in the school garden and students in TA's Garden Camp were there to help. Open to rising 7-9th graders from Thetford and surrounding towns, eight enthusiastic campers and two student interns joined the school's first-ever garden camp this August. Campers participated in fun, garden-based activities and games around TA's campus and community, kicking off the week with team building and a field trip to pick blueberries at Cedar Circle Farm in East Thetford. Led by school garden coordinator Ehrin Lingeman, campers harvested garlic, prepared beds for fall planting, dug potatoes, built raised beds, and planted strawberries for...

On Saturday, TA was excited to welcome members of the Class of 2015 to campus for a belated celebration of their five year reunion. The small (but mighty) group of seven traveled from near and far to gather at TA's timber framed outdoor classroom. Toria Isquith, who was instrumental in organizing the event shared, "Most of us have been in school together since kindergarten! We left Thetford Elementary and walked over the bridge to TA." Back on campus together again, the class spent the afternoon reconnecting and reminiscing, playing corn hole, and sharing stories. Lyd Leitschuh enthusiastically assumed the role of grillmaster...
