The Vermont Division III Track & Field Championships were held in Windsor on Saturday, June 4, and both the boys and the girls defended their state championships with dominant victories. In track and field, the top six finishers in each event score points. Both the boys and girls scored points in all but two of the eighteen events. Covid Cases: TA had 1 new case of Covid over the past weekend. Thank you to students for masking last week & keeping our community healthy!! NEW -Test kits are available at Upper Valley Ambulance. On Friday, May 27, Thetford Academy began its 5th annual "Day of Giving" event with two challenges - and $15,000 - from the Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation on the table. Each year, TA hosts the digital Day of Giving as a celebration of both community and philanthropy. This year's theme "Honor the Past, Create the Future," highlighted TA's longstanding traditions like Mountain Day and Founders' Day, as well as the school's historic commitment to experiential and outdoor learning, the arts, and providing diverse opportunities to our students. In TA's environmental studies and outdoor education course, students spend part of every Friday's two and a half hour class in a designated "solo spot." Solo spots, selected by each student early in the semester, are a place where students can spend time alone with their thoughts–disconnecting, reflecting, and observing. Many students choose to build rustic shelters in their solo spots, offering a bit of privacy and protection from the elements. Arts Focus Recent days have been especially filled with a spotlight on the arts at TA. Congratulations to the cast and crew of the spring musical who delighted their audiences last weekend with their performances of 'Hello, Dolly!'.
