The 14 athletes representing Thetford Academy at New Englands last Saturday had an exciting and inspiring day at the Reggie Lewis Track in Boston, surrounded by the best runners, jumpers and throwers in our six-state region. Guest post from TA student Hanae Debo, Class of 2025 It's hard to get any students to stay after school on a Friday, let alone a half day, let alone on Valentine's Day. We led participants through a series of activities before diving into the data, such as...

Two Thetford Academy students, Andre Whiteberg '25 and Oliver Yukica '24 (who graduated a year early and is attending Princeton University) were recently named National Merit Scholarship Finalists by the National Merit Scholarship Association. This prestigious recognition of academic performance is shared by just 15,000 students across the country each year and approximately 30 students in Vermont. To advance from Semifinalist to Finalist standing, students must submitting SAT scores that confirm their earlier PSAT/NMSQT performance, have an outstanding academic record, and be endorsed and recommended by a high school official. They must also submit an application that includes high school...

Last month, their work culminated in Concord at New Hampshire's GTY Kick Off Conference and Training Event. At the kickoff, Mavis Downey '26 and Hanae Debo '25 - alongside Up for Learning leaders Kate Merrigan and Lindsey Halman - facilitated the day's activities for more than 100 students and educators. Using their own experience working with GTY in Vermont, the team presented an overview of how the program...
