Dear TA Families, The 8th graders reminded us this week of the power of venturing out to explore new places and try new experiences. The Class of 2028, with a team of TA teacher-advisors, spent Monday and Tuesday at the Aloha Foundation's Hulbert Outdoor Center in Fairlee. This was an awesome opportunity for individual growth and community building. Activities included a variety of high ropes course and problem solving challenges, along with community meals and an overnight in cabins. With a slow, snow-less start to the season, TA's alpine ski team had mostly dryland training on their practice schedule before last week's first race. Coach Paul Dixon shared that the lack of on-snow training led to some jitters, and that he'd "be lying if I said that nobody had butterflies in their stomach before the first race of the season." The following letter accompanied students' report cards, which were distributed on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. TA robotics is having another good year, with competitive middle school and high school teams earning accolades at VT/NH meets. The recent competition in Belmont, New Hampshire on Jan. 13 featured an exceptional performance by one of the TA groups.  The team known as ‘String Theory 4886S’, including Aden Perry ‘24, Connor Kutter-Walker ‘26, and Duncan MacPhee ‘27, went undefeated through the qualification and elimination rounds and earned the title of Tournament Champions. In addition they won the Robot Skills competition and garnered the coveted Excellence Award for their overall dominance and well-documented engineering process.
