Dear TA Families, We had an activity-filled week, starting with our first regular assembly of the year during power hour and culminating today with the 9th grade retreat on our outdoor campus this morning. It was wonderful to see so many of you at Back to School Night on Thursday evening - we enjoy being able to host parents back on campus these days! School Photos Picture day was yesterday and every student in attendance should have had the opportunity to get their photo taken. Dear TA Families, Lots of new shoes and first-day nerves and excitement on display this past Tuesday as we started the school year. We welcomed back over 220 returning students, along with over 90 new classmates - and an awesome cadre of new faculty. The new year brings lots of opportunities for everyone - new and returning students, middle schoolers and high schoolers. We encourage students to get involved and make the most of their TA experience. Every Thursday during Power Hour, we have built-in time during the school day for club meetings and activities. The Thetford Outdoor Program will lead a series of outings for students this fall, starting with an overnight canoe camping and service trip on the Connecticut River during Labor Day weekend, September 2-4. Students will canoe to Gilman Island (near Hanover/Norwich) and work with the Connecticut River Paddlers' Trail Alliance and Great River Hydro to maintain and improve the island's group campsite. Interested students can sign up online or via registration forms that will be sent home next week. TA welcomes Amy Amell to the school's advancement team in the role of Advancement and Alumni Engagement Associate. In her new position, Amy supports the school's advancement efforts including development, communications, and community and alumni relations. TA looks forward to welcoming parents and guardians to campus for its annual Back to School Night on Thursday, September 1. The evening event will take place from 5:45-7:30 p.m. Back to School Night is an opportunity to meet teachers, visit classrooms, and learn more about the curriculum and classroom expectations. Parents are invited to arrive as early as 5:45 p.m. to check in, visit the informational tables, and meet school staff on the quad. The formal schedule will start at 6:00 p.m. with advisory meetings.
