Thetford Academy's music department is excited to share some joy with you! On Wednesday, December 11, at 6:30 p.m., our instrumental musicians, stage band, and middle school chorus will showcase their talents in our annual Winter Concert. Chorus students will perform an eclectic concert of classic pop, musical theater, contemporary choral and traditional standard music selections. Focusing on learning how to read and interpret music from sheet music to performance, the students have been working on these song selections to become more confident singers individually and as an ensemble of singers.  The winter concert represents their culminating performance project. Thetford Academy’s longtime Culinary Arts teacher Jennifer Gernhard centers community service in her curriculum, teaching students both how to cook and how to make a difference. For example, in Jennifer’s Cooking for Health class, students recently collaborated with a local church group to raise money for the Thetford Food Shelf, preparing 150 servings of apple crisp for a benefit dinner hosted by the Thetford Community Center. The collaboration raised over $2000 in much-needed donations for the food shelf’s work. The class also regularly bakes pies for the Thetford Elder Network’s monthly meal, a community gathering that often includes friends, family, and neighbors...

Dear TA Families, Question: "If you were in a traveling circus, what role would you have?" First response: "The lion tamer, no doubt!" This fun discussion prompt, which quickly elicited spirited answers from friends around the table, was one of many interesting conversations I caught little pieces of while strolling around on lunch duty earlier this week. Sharing current favorite shows on Netflix, troubleshooting the design of a robot, throwing a football on the quad, giggling about who knows what, sitting quietly with a book.
