Guest post from Alpine Ski Coach Paul Dixon We had an action packed end of the season with virtually back to back races with the Southern District Championship at Bromley on Friday the 1st. The event carried a bit less weight and stress this year as all of the schools and independent athletes would automatically qualify for the State Championship in an attempt to expand the field of more teams competing at the state level.  The Ladies team despite some athletes having to miss the event due to the winter break were firing on all cylinders with top performances from Maya Dixon, Sophia Harvey, Ella Harvey, Heidi...

The school meeting portion of Thetford's Town Meeting Day on March 2 drew a larger-than-usual crowd this year. By 9am, most of the chairs on the gym floor were occupied and the bleachers above were filling up. This was not a surprise, due to the many questions swirling in our community and regional media - about the impacts of Act 127, the projected property tax increases, the decision of whether or not to delay the school budget vote, and related issues. Presentations included program reports by the lead educators - Thetford Elementary School's Principal Bernice Mills and SEL Coordinator Caitlin Toleno,...

Dear TA Families, It's been a jam-packed February. Here are a few highlights from this past week. Black History Month Panel: "Spread love, no matter the color." Of the few fond memories I have of “CovidPodLife 2021”, one that stands out to me is the memory of Caleb and former Science teacher Len Whitaker passing a hockey puck any chance they could get. It came as no surprise, then, to learn that Caleb has been participating in competitive sled hockey since he was seven years old.  For those who might not know, sled hockey is a fast-paced sport in which participants propel themselves in aluminum-framed sleds across a hockey rink using two modified hockey sticks. At one...

Guest post from TA robotics coach Leif LaWhite The NH/VT 2024 VEX robotics state championship tournament is in the books. And once again, tiny TA wrote the book.  The meet was held at Manchester Community College, an hour an a half from TA, so it was another 6:30 a.m. departure for our roboteurs and their family fan club. There were 40 robots representing 12 schools (some 10 times our size) competing.   The event began with a series of eighty 2-minute qualifying matches where robots were randomly chosen to ally-with and go-against others in the main 2V2 event. Our own 4886S (Aden Perry, Connor Kutter-Walker and Duncan...
